1/25 Moebius 1953 Hudson Hornet

I have always like the styling of the cars from the 50-60's era, so I was quite pleased when Moebius announced they would be producing the Hudson Hornet. I have always wanted one of them in my collection and I bought  one as soon as they became available.

I decided early on that I wanted to do a stock version but I also wanted it to really stand out on a contest table. So with that in mind, I went with the bright red paint job and fire chief markings.

I scratchbuilt the siren and red beacon light. The door handles were opened up and aluminium tubing was used for the tailpipe. I detailed the interior with two-tone paint and BMF on the door trim. I also added a control box for the siren and red beacon light. I prefer curbside models, so very little detailing was done to the engine and engine bay. Truth be told, the hood did not fit properly, so it made my decision for a curbside that much easier. The antenna is a piece of piano wire and the decals are from Micro Scale. Lots and lots of BMF was used for the chrome trim. Tamiya spray can paints were used for the finish.

This was a fun build, with construction being very straight forward and I want to give a thank you to Moebius for producing a great kit of one of the bygone classics.

Enjoy the photos.
