This was a quick build for a recent model contest/show. I have always wanted to do an older police car and the '41 Plymouth fit the bill.
Some of the modifications to the basic kit are: all of the kit chrome was removed and replaced with Alclad. The seats were sprayed with Valspar Suede to give them a textured look and then BMF was used on the interior chrome trim. The roof lights came from the parts bin and I painted the lenses red using Tamiya clear red. To give the grille a more convincing look, I cut very thin pieces of black decal paper to insert in the spaces between the grille bars. It was time consuming but the look is great. I then scratchbuilt the
siren, floodlight (with interior handle), outside mirror and whip antenna.
I added a handset from the parts bin and built a dashboard holder for it.
A control box for the lights and siren was also added to the interior.
Again, BMF was used on the exterior trim. The badge and sheriff decals are
from Microscale and I made the Little Rock decals using dry transfer lettering.
Paints used were spray can Tamiya black, white and clear gloss. Terry Davis |
