This kit was released in 1972 and I remember building it back then. It was one of my favorite models. That model was lost many years ago, so for the ARC Auto Festival of Speed Group Build, I thought I would build another one. Overall it's a great kit for it's age. It requires more cleanup of the parts than a modern kit does, but the fit is pretty good and the detail is great. They even include a piece of vinyl tubing for the oil lines.

I made only a few improvements, mainly adjusting the stance since it sat a little high. I cut off the mounting pins for the wheels and glued them a little higher up in the wheel wells. Other than that it's straight out-of-the-box. I had to mix my own paint for the upper surface red. It's a slightly orange color, so I mixed some yellow into a bottle of Testors red until it matched the stripes on the decal sheet.

It was a fun build, and I'm happy to have it back on the shelf again.
